Special Event Insurance

What is Special Event Insurance

Anything and everything could go wrong when it comes to running an event. We live in an unpredictable world and the last thing you want to be is unprepared. Event insurance is designed to protect you against bodily injury or property damage claims that occur during your wedding, birthday party, concert, trade show, or any other special event. An attendee could slip and fall, a fight could break out (especially when there is alcohol involved), or one of your workers could accidentally damage property belonging to the venue owner. Claims against you can be costly, particularly for a small business. Even if the venue does not require you to carry insurance; it’s always a good practice to protect your investment if you are an individual or business that plans to hold an event and is susceptible to claims or loss. There are different types of event insurance.

Types of Event Insurance Coverages

General Liability is the primary type of event insurance to cover bodily injury and property damage claims made by a third party. A special feature of event insurance is that you can get it for a specific period of time. You can get one-day coverage that will expire when the event ends.

Cancellation Insurance is ideal for when you put down a non refundable deposit in order to set the date for the venue or there are penalties for canceling or rescheduling. This is typically not covered under your general liability policy so it’s a good idea to carry cancellation insurance in case the event has to be canceled or postponed due to severe weather, terrorism, non-appearance of a key performer, or a fire at the venue.

Liquor Liability Insurance protects you from the possibility of lawsuits from injuries sustained as a result of you having liquor at your event.
